Bacon Park Women’s 3.0 tennis team

The Bacon Park women’s 3.0 tennis team travels from Savannah, in hopes that their matching hats will give them the luck they need! They call themselves the Georgia SATA Pat Stewart tennis team. Pat Stewart has been the hardworking captain of the team for quite a while. She originally had a team of 16 women three years ago. Unfortunately, due to injuries and teammates moving up, only four of those women still participate on the team today. The good news is that they have been able to bond with other talented ladies through different leagues in Savannah. According to Pat, the most challenging part of being a captain is putting players together that you aren’t very familiar with. Well, most would agree that she has done something right, seeing that they are one of the best in the state! Pat and the other “originals” have advanced to the state tournament three times, and would love to continue their winning streak with the newer members.

Pat’s team takes a very interesting approach when it comes to receiving coaching. They actually hire a coach during the off season, but do not have any team coaching during the season. However, all players are expected to get coaching on their own through various clinics offered in Savannah. Although this approach to coaching is different from most teams, it seems to work for them.

Even though the women have not been together as a team for very long, they have still had their share of fun together. In Savannah, there is actually a tennis lounge where tennis players from all over Savannah go and have a good time together. This is a great place to go after a hard match to relax, or even to scout out potential new members!

Keep on the lookout for these ladies! If they are the State winners this year, you and your team may want to consider wearing matching hats for good luck next time!
