It’s that time of year
again! Yes, the 2008 Senior League State championships. It will be a hot one
this weekend in Columbus, so don’t forget your towels, coolers and sun
glasses! Most importantly, BRING A LOT OF WATER! It is never too early to
start hydrating yourself, so get started now!
This year there will be 37 men’s and 47 women’s teams
competing for the ultimate title of State Champions. The levels range from
2.0-4.5, so we hope to see a lot of competitive tennis, as well as FUN!!
The tournament is scheduled to begin on Friday, June
13, with the captain’s meeting held on Thursday at the Hilton Garden Inn
(host hotel). This is when the fun officially begins! Staff members will be
present to answer any questions you or your teammates may have before the
tournament begins Friday morning at 8 am. Also, if you have not already
turned in your media questionnaire, please turn it in to a staff member at
the Captain’s meeting.
On Saturday, there will be a player’s lunch beginning
at 11:30 am at the Cooper Creek Tennis Center on the stadium court. The food
will be catered by Country’s and you will have your choice of a yummy
grilled chicken sandwich or a juicy hamburger! The side items include baked
potato salad and baked beans. Ice cold tea will be the beverage provided.
Don’t forget your ticket, as you could miss out on winning a special prize
during the drawing at 4 pm! We look forward to seeing you there!
As most of you are aware, a lot of work goes into putting these tournaments
together. Be sure to thank the volunteers for their help as you see them
around the facilities!
The final rounds are scheduled for Monday. There will
be awards for the winners and runners up. If your team doesn’t make it to
the final rounds, don’t worry, we still have a special tournament t-shirt
provided for every participant as a result of making it to the 2008 Senior
League State Championships. Remember, everyone is a winner for making it
this far, so let’s just have fun and play some tennis!
